Introducing: Cheryl Foggo
We would like to thank JHtheBrand (https://jillianharris.com/3-things-of-many-to-know-about-black-history-in-western-canada/) for bringing this incredible woman to our attention, whom we now want to share with of our Zapped community! Cheryl was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta- who has dedicated her last 30 years to bringing awareness, and prioritizing Western Canadians of the African Descent. Cheryl is an award-winning filmmaker for her documentary John Ware Reclaimed, an award-winning playwright and author. John Ware Reclaimed is documentary based on John Ware – a born slave who helped start the ranching industry by bringing the first cattle to Southern Alberta.
Cheryl is a voluntary member on many boards, and an advocate Black writers & artists, as well as an active mentor and lecturer. Cheryl who was inspired by her Mother- is an educator on racism, a role model, and is passionate about informing us about the cities past.
